A day in the life on an inspiring photographer

Time to change things up a bit… December 5, 2011

When I started this blog, I thought I knew what I was doing…. Boy was I wrong! Take that back, I guessed at ALL of it. This blog wasn’t the best fit for how I was looking to express my photography. So to keep things simple, I’ve switched. If you’ve been a loyal follower (thank you), and please take a moment and follow my new blog: http://laurahernandezphotography.blogspot.com. I love hearing from you!

The Lambert Family | Monterey Family Portraits November 30, 2011

I was blessed with the opportunity this past weekend to take the family portraits of the awesome Lambert family. Michelle is not only an amazing wife and mother, but she is a very talented teacher (who taught preschool to my little Miss Charlie). I’m so grateful to have such wonderful friends. My friends are like my family….

This shoot was full of energy and laughter.  Enjoy.

Photo Challenge | Bust a Gut! November 29, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — Laura Hernandez Photography @ 3:24 am

I struggled in my own mind weather to enter a photo challenge or not. Of course I  hear the voice in my head saying “You are not up to par with these other professional photographers,” but then I tell myself, I’m having fun right!? That’s all that matters. I’m in this for the pure joy of capturing a moment in time that will be treasured for a lifetime. When I read that this weeks challenge on I Heart Faces was “Bust a Gut”, I just knew I had to enter my little Miss Charlie (toothless and all). You can’t look at this and not crack a smile.

Rachel & Paul November 5, 2011

Being new to photography, I’m always excited for a photo shoot opportunity. Well my oldest daughter who is the gifted photographer in the family (and who is never seen in photos since she’s always the one taking them) offered to be my model with her boyfriend Paul. The day we choose just happened to be their one month anniversary so we had some fun with these adding a few props.

I tried doing a verity of different poses, locations and times of day. Like I said, I’m very new to photography and I’m still trying to decipher all the camera codes but I’m getting there. Practice makes perfect, right? 🙂

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk October 25, 2011

This past weekend my family and I had the opportunity to spend a day at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. It was so much fun! I questioned bringing my camera because I knew we would be getting on rides but I’m SO glad I did. Being a new want-to-photographer, I want to capture everything they way I see it. I snapped this photo which so far is my absolute favorite.

October Photo Challenge: Kids + Fall

Miss Charlie and her pink balloon.

Fall is my favorite season of the year… the trees, leaves, sunsets. I’m new to photography, still experimenting, but wanted the fall themed background with a splash of my daughters favorite color “pink!” I’ve decided to enter http://www.rocktheshopforum.com photo challenge about kids and fall. Check out the other amazing entries!

My new adventure October 14, 2011

Who would have thought watching my 14-year old daughter, who is a stunning photographer, would drive me to be so passionate about photography. I debated with myself if I should purchase a camera of my own, and finally I did. UPS arrived with my new Canon Rebel T3 just yesterday. Today, my new adventure begins.
